The Wireless Set 19 has a wide range of cables available for it, but generally if you simply want a cable to go from A to B, if it is long enough and has the correct 6 or 12 pin connectors fitted, it will work.

Power is supplied to the power supply using a power cable fitted with a 6 pin connector. These came with a variety of power connection fittings, so they could connect directly to a signals battery, a 2 pin connector, battery post connections for use in a vehicle or terminal spades for connection to a vehicle wiring harness. Due to the age of these cables and the current they must carry, we recommend you give them close inspection prior to use. A good tip is to make your own cable using modern PVC cable.

The cable that connects the power supply to the radio is called a "dog bone", these are available as 12 pin to 12 pin or 12 pin to 6 pin, allowing different model power supplies to be used with either Mk2 or Mk3 radios. There are other versions of the dog bone, allowing control of the RF Amplifier and providing power to the Canadian Crystal Calibrator.

Control boxes are connected using 12 pin to 12 pin cables, these come in a wide range of lengths, up to about 15 feet.

To connect the radio to the variometer or B set antenna, a coaxial cable is used that is fitted with PYE connectors, for the variometer, the cable has right angled connectors on either end, for the B set antenna one end if fitted with a straight connector.

So that the radio can be operated from outside of a vehicle, for instance, audio extension cables are available.

Cables are finished in a variety of materials, during the war, generally they were cloth covered and metal braided for vehicle use. Later on as NBC decontamination requirements cane in, cables moved to a rubber finish so they could be cleaned. US produced cables were a thick high quality black rubber fished throughout their production.

Note: If intending to power a station, always check the condition of the cables prior to use if their history and condition are unknown, to do this, pop the cover off the connectors and check the conductors are not shorted. If rubber they can generally look good but have perished internally.
